Lava XOLO X900

The Lava XOLO X900 was announced in India today and will be made available on April 23rd via Xolo.in and Croma stores across the country. The rest of the Indian market will get the smartphone in mid-May. The smartphone runs on Intel’s Z2460 Atom processor with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. The XOLO X900 is the first of its kind running on Intel’s Atom mobile CPU. It goes without saying that other OEMs are pretty interested in rolling out a smartphone with the said processor. The XOLO X900 is priced at Rs. 22,000 ($425) in India.

The single core processor on the XOLO X900 is clocked at 1.6 GHz and even though it doesn’t have multiple cores, it is believed to perform fairly well and rightly so. For the smooth flow of apps, the phone packs a decent 1GB RAM. The device comes with an 8MP camera sensor which has a unique burst mode feature which lets the user capture 10 images in under second. The smartphone can also capture 1080p Full HD image and video.

The XOLO X900 has a 4.03 inch display with a resolution of 1024×600 (295 ppi) which makes it stand out against the rest of the 4 inch droids out there. The handset is currently available in India, and it’s not known if it will be sold outside of India. Either way, Lenovo has plans to launch an Intel powered smartphone as well, so that should cover most of the world. Sadly though, the XOLO X900 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not Ice Cream Sandwich as you would have expected. But it is hoped that an update will be provided soon.
