The new Tango update for Windows Phone Mango smartphones is said to be breaking cover starting from June. The rumor comes shortly after the Tango firmware was found in China. The OS was spotted in the Nokia Care Suite servers in China for Nokia Lumia 710 smartphones. So it seems like the update is ready and Microsoft is waiting for all the global carriers to finish testing the new update. After which, the update will be rolled out to all smartphones.
It must be noted though that most Windows Phone 7 smartphones will not benefit majorly from the Tango update. The update will improve MMS support on Windows Phones and will finally make Windows Phones compatible with lower end hardware (256MB RAM). After the failure of the NoDo update, it is believed that Microsoft will follow the same strategy for the roll out as with the Mango update.
So as of now, June seems to be the most likely date when the update will be rolled out. Unlike Windows Phone Apollo, users aren’t excited about Tango as it is considered to be a minor update. This will merely help OEMs make low end Windows Phone devices. But even though there is little to be excited about here, we think it has a significance of its own.
